Script For Love Yourself
My music video has no real script as the music is the main audio on the clip, no extra sounds are imported into my music video.

Beginning and ending is only present, the middle part to the music video isn't working so when i figure out how it plays I will upload the full video.

Production Paperwork: Research
I have given examples for my inspiration for my music video with screenshots above. I've talked about the location and how we came to an agreement on where was suitable to film.
Production Paperwork: Proposal
This is my proposal for my music video. It includes my cast; what I'm looking to get out to my audience, how I want them to feel when watching my music video.
I also talk about the style of my music video and the implications involved.

My Plan StoryBoard:
The audio sections are left N/A as the sound isn't relevant and will be covered over by the music we have chosen for our music video which is "Love Yourself" By Justin Bieber.
Production Paperwork: The Treatment
I have tried to upload a screenshot of my treatment but I think it's too small to read so ill upload the text instead:
My Treatment for
my music video “Love Yourself” Carlyn Stubley Creative Media
The Meaning
My music video’s music is very
emotional and gives a selfless feeling/vibe about it. A young couple are
seemingly in love but one cares much more for the other than they do for them,
eventually the male character decides it gets too much he knows she’s more interested
in herself and becomes controlling. He soon realises she’s not healthy to be in
a relationship with. All the positive stuff and happy times aren’t enough as
all the controlling and negative pressure out weights the positives. It’s all
about being strong and brave enough to break out of something unhealthy rather
than stay for the better parts.
The Content, Imagery and
Narrative
The content of my music video
includes 2 main characters; A male (the boyfriend) and a female (the
girlfriend). I also include the artist; Ben Halliday – who is shown singing the
song in the music video inside a studio which is our college studio, he sings
behind a microphone and into it. There is no taboo language or any profanity
whatsoever. It also doesn’t include any advanced words or words some may not
understand – meaning that the target audience should be 12 and over when
listening to this song as they should be able to understand the meaning and
wording behind the lyrics.
The imagery used is rather
simple. The angles and shot types used are easy to identify except the footage
that we gained from Hollywood Bowl. The one where the female character is
stretched over the pool table and aims her pool cue to hit the ball into the
put. At first, the focus is on the ball from the puts angle/pov but then
changes to the female who is further back, after she strikes the ball the focus
changes again to go slightly blurry but still focused on the female. An opening
scene of the sunlight glimmering through the trees was a really good shot, show
the area/ location making it an establishing shot which set the scene for the
audience to know what type of area the couple are in. Also, the lighting in
each scene is either natural daylight/sunlight from filming outside in the
daytime e.g. Old Brandon Railway/ Waterloo Valley, artificial light such as
ordinary bulbs/ colourful flashing light e.g. Hollywood Bowl or an artificial
but professional spot light lamp which provides great shadowing or just as spot
light e.g. Bens college studio performance.
The Narrative tells a story of a
young couple who spend a lot of time, money and effort into each other.
However, as you can see in the music video the female gets a bit clingy and
controlling gradually the audience will begin to feel sorry for the male as
they will notice him being unhappier and not as happy as they once were. The
female however, is oblivious to how her behaviour is effecting he boyfriend and
they eventually split up. Also, with Ben miming the lyrics which will be
included who will obviously be adding some emotion to it when performing.
The Duration
Officially the Music for my music
video is 3 minutes 54 seconds, somehow we managed to film enough footage to
make this into a music video for the soundtrack. The music we have picked is 2
seconds shorter but it’s not a problem because it only cuts off the blank noise
off at the end which isn’t missed. Hopefully, it will feel like it flies by when
you watch it. For it to drag would be disappointing and I wouldn’t want my
audience to get bored and waiting for the ending to come quicker.
The Pace and Style
The pace and style of the music
video is relatively calm; the chorus picks up a bit of speed but then soon
slows back down to its original pace when the verses start up. The footage is also calm and nothing too fast
or too slow just all similar paces. One scene, down by the Waterloo Valley, is
of the male carrying the female on his back and running alongside a small
shallow river. Considering that he is running, that scene may feel faster but in
the music video its self I may speed this clip up anyway just so the audience
doesn’t feel like they have been watching them run for a while, plus it made
more room for when I was editing my music video. The Style I would say is
Narrative/Performance/studio based as it has a part of each of those elements
so it’s hard to just pick one. My view on it is all three.
The Semiotics
The male and female characters
hold hands while walking side by side together – this shows they’re in some sort
of friendship/relationship. When at the Waterloo Valley, the male wraps his
right arm around the female character whilst sitting closely next to each other
– this gives off the impression they care for each other and have a close bond
to one another. In the arcades when they play on game machines – this could
demonstrate their competitive side e.g. when playing pool together or when one
a shooting stimulator game or their side which shows good team work bonding
e.g. 2p machine they work together in hopes of a reward in return. When the two
characters are sat in a photo booth together at Hollywood Bowl they are placed
in a small, intimate space whilst posing and taking pictures – this shows a
comfortable image, comfortable enough to goof about with no feeling of
embarrassment. When the couple are at the Waterloo Valley, the male picks up
the female and carries her on his back (piggy back ride) and he runs alongside
a river – this could show the trust between the couple as the male could easily
trip and the female could end up on the floor or in the river; however, this
could also show the males confidence that he has in himself to carry his
girlfriend and not drop her.
